The coin is a tribute to Malta’s health sector during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially to cutting-edge healthcare professionals. It is a national recognition of the dedication of many people who have stood at the forefront of risking their health in these global difficult times.
The coins were minted at Monnet de Paris in France and bear his mark. The obverse of the coin was designed and engraved by Maria Anna Frisone. It depicts two medical professionals preparing to meet an unknown person. The reverse of the coin features the standard 2 euro side.
