Malta 2022 Erasmus coin card

This commemorative 2 € coin, minted by Malta in 2022, marks the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus program. Commemorative coins in this series are being issued across all European countries.

Dedicated to the Erasmus+ student mobility program, this is a joint commemorative coin, meaning it is issued in all Eurozone countries. The coin was designed by Joaquin Jimenez.

The Erasmus program (European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students) was launched in 1987 to expand cooperation between higher education institutions and to support education, training, youth, and sport in Europe. The program is named after Erasmus of Rotterdam—a renowned 15th–16th-century Dutch humanist, clergyman, philosopher, and doctor of theology.

The coin is presented in special numismatic packaging (a "coincard").
