The central part of the coin features an effigy of Grand Duke Henri, facing right, partially overlapping an effigy of the late Grand Duke Adolphe. An inscription, "GRANDS-DUCS DE LUXEMBOURG," appears in a semicircle above the effigies. Below the effigies, the names "HENRI" (above "*1955") and "ADOLPHE" (above "†1905") are inscribed. In the outer ring, the twelve stars of the European Union are interspersed with the word "LËTZEBUERG" and the year of issue, "2005," which is located at the bottom center, below the effigies. To the left of the year is the letter "S," and to the right is the mint mark.
